Course Overview

Our course 21st Century Skills will help you to understand relevance of competencies such as global awareness, visual and media literacy or entrepreneurship and guide you to integrate those skills into your everyday practice. Meet colleagues from different countries and be encouraged to create collaborative learning environment which is flexible and aligns with real world context.

Course Methodology

21st Century Skills course is structured into thematic modules which will be introduced by several tutors within a group instructional setting. It is designed as a series of workshops that are composed of discussions, hand-on activities and practical tips how to combine your subject with current interdisciplinary themes and 21st century competencies.

  • Module 07 – Visual Literacy; Social and Cross-Cultural Skills
  • Module 08 – Communication, Collaboration and other Soft Skills
  • Module 09 – Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills
  • Module 10 – Creative and Inventive Thinking
  • Module 11 – 21st Century Assessment
  • Module 12 – Final Workshop with Presentations

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand importance of a framework for 21st century skills, generate ready‐to‐use materials and strategies to effectively combine core subject content with interdisciplinary current themes.
  • Learn to motivate, guide and assess learners to reduce low achievement in key competences, develop relevant, high-level and innovative skills, enhance good quality of mainstream education.
  • Use learner-centred and innovative teaching methods, encourage critical thinking and real-world problems solving, develop learner’s transversal competencies.
  • Create flexible learning environments, use open and digital resources, support development of digital skills and media literacy, trigger changes in terms of modernization using ICT.
  • Promote peer exchange, active participation and community involvement within the education, support inclusion of various minorities into mainstream education based on democratic values.
  • Reinforce continual professional development, re-ignite lifelong learning strategies, build confidence in promoting innovative pedagogies responsive to social and cultural needs.
  • Meet colleagues of different nationalities within the EU, engage in cross-cultural learning experience, exchange ideas and build a network for future international cooperation.
  • Gain broader understanding of practices, policies and systems of education in different countries, cultivate mutual respect and embed common educational and training values.
  • Enrich communication skills, improve foreign language competencies, broaden professional vocabulary and promote EU’s broad linguistic diversity.

Before the Course:

You would be required to fill a Questionnaire providing information on your level of English, teaching background, qualifications, and previous experience.
You will receive “ITC Course Participant Handbook” where you will find all necessary information.

After the Course:

Course evaluation form
Certificates
Course materials in electronical form / Other materials for self-study and dissemination of good practice.
